It is officially October, and the High Country is starting to show her glory. We have compiled some sites for you to make the most of Nature’s spectacular fall presentation. Hopefully, we will not have the rain to contend with at the level of the past couple of weeks, and will be able to actually get out and enjoy what the mountains have to offer in the way of colorful fall foliage.
High Country Host offers all kinds of places to look for color updates, and locations to best enjoy the leaves this time of year.
Watauga Roads offers a handy map to let you know expected peak times, and advice on what colors you are likely to see. They predict that the best showing will be over the next two weeks, so you may need to tell Aunt Nelly that you’re sorry about Sunday dinner, and head out to the Parkway, instead.
The High Country’s very own ASU Department of Biology also keeps their site updated weekly with helpful leaf-related information.
With all these places to look, there is no reason (apologies to Aunt Nelly) that you shouldn’t make time to enjoy the beautiful area in which we live before winter starts, and we have nothing but sticks and snow to feast our eyes upon. Go check out the foliage, and we will see you next Tuesday!
