Todd, located 20 minutes from Boone, is partially in Watauga County and partially in Ashe County. Todd, rich in history, was settled in the late 18th century and early 19th century.  It was once larger than it’s neighboring town of Boone. The Virginia Creeper railroad was extended to Todd to assist the timber industry which caused even more growth in the area. Eventually, the railroad left the area and a flood washed away much that was Todd.  Now Todd is home to the fantastic Rivergirl Fishing Company and the Todd Mercantile & Bakery.
