Linville, 30 minutes from Boone in Avery County, is the located in the middle of several High Country attractions.  Snow tubing at Hawksnest and skiing at Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain make the area a popular winter destination. Other nearby attractions include Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge Wilderness Area, Linville Caverns, and Linville Falls. Linville Golf Course, Grandfather Golf and Country Club, and Linville Ridge are open from spring to fall.
